Eligible Excellence Award recipients are continuing to receive payments following the end of the Canada Millennium Scholarship Foundation’s mandate. The total award value, or the payment amount, will not change.

Human Resources and Skills Development Canada, through the Canada Student Loans Program, is administering outstanding payments from January 1, 2010 to December 31, 2013.

The Canada Millennium Scholarship Foundation, which completed its ten‑year mandate in January 2010, announced its final Excellence Award recipients in 2009.

Who can collect payments?

Applicants who already have approval from the Canada Millennium Scholarship Foundation are eligible to receive one payment per calendar year. To receive a payment, you must be enrolled:

• as a full-time student; and
• in an undergraduate program that runs for at least eight months at a Canadian designated educational institution.

How to renew

Follow these steps to renew your award:

1. Print and sign the completed renewal form and mail it to:

   Ottawa, Ontario K1P 6C6

2. All applicants who submit a request for renewal will receive notification by mail from the Canada Student Loans Program. This should take around four weeks from the date of submission.

3. If your application is approved, a cheque will be sent to your educational institution for you to pick up.

When you renew, remember the following:

• You can receive more than one payment in a single calendar year, but this additional payment is available only once over the entire period you receive the award. Visit the Frequently Asked Questions for more information.
• You must complete and submit a renewal form each time you would like to receive a payment.
• To ensure that you receive your money at the start of your school year, submit the renewal form at least four weeks before the beginning of your study period.
• Renewal forms will not be processed after your study period has ended.
• You can choose to defer your award payment, provided you still meet the eligibility criteria.
• No outstanding awards will be paid after December 31, 2013.
