Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR)
Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR), helps adults demonstrate and obtain recognition for learning they acquire outside of the classroom. PLAR focuses on what adults know and can do, including skills and training gained on the job, through volunteering and leisure activities or even through travel.
Some provincial and territorial departments of education offer PLAR to help you get your high school diploma.
Many colleges and universities also recognize prior learning. Use PLAR to help meet entrance requirements or get exempt from some classes and program requirements.
